There is a lot to be said for having the right tools and resources, but I have found that having the right training is more important. Without the right training, the best tools and resources will mean very little. Someone once said that knowledge is power. I hold this to be very true. With the right knowledge you hold the keys to the vault, so to speak.

You’ve gone through the investigating, building your plan and budget. You have even picked out the opportunity that you feel is best for you. So now what? You have probably signed up with someone and now have an up-line. That person is giving you encouragement and maybe a few insightful tips on how to get started. You are logged into you dashboard or back office, they are one and the same, and looking at all the buttons and thinking to yourself, where to I start?

Believe it or not, the best place to start is with training. There is going to be all kinds of good information about your opportunity and you need to know as much as you can about it. When you start to talk with people about your opportunity, they are going to have all kinds of questions. If you can’t answer them, then you are toast. Forget Sponsoring them, unless they are already a fan of yours and willing to try anything you suggest. Quite honestly, I have found that not even family or friends are going to do that unless you can answer some basic questions.

Dig in and spend as many hours as necessary learning about the product(s) you are promoting, the different ways you can get paid as a business associate and everything else you can learn. Think of it this way, if someone approached you with a great opportunity, what questions would you ask? Write those questions down and then start answering them. Know this, you are not going to be able to answer every question, but if you can answer the lion share of them, then you are going to be seen as an authority on the subject. People will be more receptive to you and will not be bothered by you telling them that you are not sure, but that you will get the answers to their questions.

Preparing yourself in this fashion, will give you the confidence you need to talk with people about your opportunity/product. You will be well on your way to being an expert and this will set you apart from the majority of other network marketers, even the ones that are offering the same opportunity or product. I will say this again, people don’t buy products or opportunities just because they sound good, they buy because the person that has presented it to them is offering value, their leadership.

Now that you have taken the time to grow your knowledge, it is time to reach out and introduce people to your product and opportunity. There are many ways of doing this. Look at your budget and then craft an approach based on that. Part of a successful approach to building your business is making sure you brand yourself. I go back to the adage that people are interested in doing business with leaders and the only way to present yourself in this light is to brand yourself. You need to make sure that you have a website that offers you the ability to personalize the appearance and message and customize the site to fit you. The site must offer you the ability to capture prospects and then funnel them through a selling environment that will ultimately put money in your pocket and a list that you can market your opportunity too.

Advantages of the Forex Market

1. Greater Liquidity. According to the Bank of International Settlements’ 2007 Triennial Central Bank Survey, the average daily turnover in traditional foreign exchange markets is estimated at $3.21 trillion. The overall turnover in the forex market is more than 10 times the combined daily turnover on all the world’s equity markets. For traders, this means that it’s easier to get in and out of trades at the price you want. At least from this perspective, the forex market is safer than other markets.

2. Leverage. To put it simply, leverage is the ability to trade with borrowed money. Many brokers offer traders 200:1 leverage at no additional cost — meaning traders can trade 200 times the amount of capital they’ve deposited in their account. Leverage allows traders to more precisely define the amount of risk they want to assume, and can allow for above average returns as well. It should be noted that leverage needs to be used cautiously; in fact, poor usage of leverage is one of the primary causes of forex traders losing all the wealth in their account. Used prudently, though, the amount of leverage the forex market offers — which is far greater than what other markets offer, and typically comes at no additional commission cost — can help traders earn greater returns while staying maintaining a level of risk that is appropriate for their investment portfolio.

3. 24 Hour Availability. The forex market is truly a global market; it is open 24 hours a day. While many stock markets have after hours trading, those markets are often very illiquid during those times; in other words, prices can be more volatile, and it can be harder for traders to get in and out of positions at the price they want. On the other hand, the forex market is active 24 hours a day, as banks across the world are active participants during their hours of operations.

4. Abundance of Direct Access Brokers. In most equities and futures markets, most brokers do not provide traders with direct access to the counter party of their trade; in other words, traders have to give their trade to a broker — who in turn adds a fee, and then passes it on to the party that actually takes the trade. In the forex market, though, online forex brokers typically are the counterparty to the trade. This allows traders to enjoy trading at a lower price. For active traders, this can end up resulting in significant savings over time.

These advantages are a big part of the reason why forex trading has become more common amongst individual traders over the past decade, and why its popularity continues to accelerate.
